A Hugging Composition

What exactly is hugging? What is necessary for it? How many bodies are needed to create this act - and can it exist without physical touch? Is it possible to hug someone with just a look? Or a thought that travels enormous distances? How is hugging a stranger different from hugging someone close to us? And how close is far and how far is near?

A Hugging Composition is an experiment in the architecture of affect. Intertwined in a web of relationships as vast as the entire universe, we come together in a collaborative and live composition of our here and now.

A Hugging Composition was originally born as a work-in-progress at the Performance Studies Department at New York University Tisch School of the Arts in New York, and this piece had its work-in-progress premiere at Ufff in PoznaÅ„, Poland.
